Friday January 8th

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Today was a day where I could get the hang of giveing some of the test they take on Friday’s. Before they take their test though the have morning work they have to do, and I have a group of four that I work with every morning. Then once we have gone over the morning work the kids take out their dry erase boards and practice their spelling words before the test is given, doing this you would think that every student would take the time to go over their words so they can get an A+ but no they would rather talk and walk around the room. They have about fifteen minutes to go over their words then we start the test, only today I gave the test instead of Ms. Kepley. To give the test you have to use you TEACHER VOICE :) and say the word then a sentence using the word then say the word again. There is a total of 15 words every week. Then there are two dictation sentences. Once spelling was done we moved on to the reading test which was over the story Dear Mr. BlueBerry. When they take this test they are aloud to use their book. During this test there was two students that need to take their time on and read the question out loud so I have to go through and highlight the words that they say correctly. After they were finished with their test then I get to grade all of them so Ms. Kepley can just enter the grades on the computer. By then it was time for me to go to pre cal.

On Wednesday it was my first day inMs. Kepley’s room. I had a lot of fun and there was a lot of work. In the morning she had me take down the Christmas tree. Before I could get the tree fully down there was a bulletin board that need to be put up for the students of the month. I felt like I was under pressure because it was a board that everyone See’s. I did my best and I think it looks good. After I was done I went back to taking down the tree, that did not take long at all. When I was finish with that job there was a student that needs a little extra help with his work so I helped him with his morning work and journal. In their journal they were supposed to write about what they did over Christmas vacation. The boy I was working with was having a hard time thinking of things to write so I talked to him about it and then he wrote it down. When they finished writing the got to show the class what they did. I had to to grade a group of kids on their introduction, describing words and the closing. They were all very good about writing, but their not perfect writers. Ms. Kepley had the joy of study hall today and the kids were really good. After Recess I graded reading papers and then it was the end of my day.

I went to pre-cal

Tuesday January 5, 2010-Valley Mills

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Today when I got to Valley Mills Ms. Kepley was not there so I went to Ms. Gaither’s room which is first grade. In the morning I helped them with their morning work. I also put their assignment papers in their folders. I noticed that the kids will open up to you. They will come up to you and ask for help on their work. They were very quite at the beginning of class then when Ms. Gaither asked them what they got for Christmas they all got really loud because they were exited to tell every one what they got. After morning work they had group time, the talked about what holidays there was in January and what they wanted to do to celebrate the 100th day of school. They also have story time, Ms. Gaither would start reading then on words she knew they would know she would stop and have them say the word. Then we worked on spelling words the quote they use is ” When two vowels go walking the first one does the talking” They also do cheers to help them remember the words. When we were do with all this I graded some papers and helped them with their math. Right now the are working with longs and cubes. That is all I did on my first day.
